Dry Brush Massage Benefits

Your skin is your largest organ, and it plays an important in your body's detoxification processes. Dry brush massage is a simple way to help your skin look its best and to help you feel healthier. It's a soothing procedure that feels good, so you'll enjoy doing it every day.

Identification

A dry brush massage, also known as dry skin brushing, is a way to stimulate the skin and promote detoxification. It's a simple technique you can perform on yourself. Use a soft, natural-bristled brush, such as a long handled bath brush or a loofah mitt, to rub your skin in long or circular strokes. This removes dead skin cells and stimulates the nerve endings and lymphatic system to encourage the body's natural healing and cleansing processes.

Method

Perform a dry brush massage before your shower each day, preferably first thing in the morning. "...First of all, this system is significantly related to having the correct information on the issue of cellulite, or in my scenario, orange skin behind. When you join to the 'Kick-Butt Cellulite Redux' package you'll also receive 'The Cellulite Reduction Report.' Atlas, a credentialed personal trainer and physical fitness specialist. This report has in-depth information on the newest cellulite reduction scams doing the rounds, and kept me from losing money on the painful Lypomassage treatment facilities that just sprouted up where I live...". You can start with your feet or with your head; either way, you'll be working toward the middle. All strokes should move in the direction of your heart. Rub in a circular motion on smaller areas, such as your feet, hands and abdomen, and rub with long strokes on your legs, arms and back.

You should shower after your dry brush massage to wash away any dead skin cells or impurities brought to the surface. After your shower, dry yourself vigorously, then rub lotion into your skin.

Benefits

A dry brush massage removes dead cells from the skin's surface, so your skin feels smoother and looks better. It increases blood flow and improves circulation, so your skin will be tighter and less prone to wrinkles and cellulite.

Dry skin brushing stimulates the lymphatic system, allowing your body to remove waste and toxins more efficiently. It also stimulates nerve endings and can help you feel more energized. It can clear clogged pores and may help with muscle tone and a more even distribution of fat deposits.

Considerations

A dry brush massage feels good from the first time you do it, but don't expect to see deep results immediately. Allow about a month of daily brushing before you feel a real difference. It takes about three months of daily brushing for a full cleansing of the lymphatic system. Don't give up if you don't feel like anything is happening. If you continue with dry brush massage, you will see the benefits in time.

Warning

Don't do a dry brush massage on skin that has a rash, infection, cut or wound. You might spread a rash or infection to other parts of your body by dry brushing over it and other areas of skin. Brushing over a cut or wound can reopen it and interfere with scabbing and healing.

Be sure to wash your brush once a week with soap and water. You don't want to spread any toxins around. Allow plenty of time for your brush to air-dry after you wash it and before you use it again. Dry it in the sun to prevent mildew.
